Cha-Am in Thailand is still a small city at the Gulf of Thailand, about 200 kilometers south of Bangkok, but it is growing in a fast way. Less then 10 years ago, you nearly find no foreigner in this beautiful sea resort. By the way, it was also not easy to find an european toilette, with a toilet seat to sit on...
But many things have changed in Cha-Am in the last years. If you want to settle down here, you will find all kinds of shops for building or renovating a house. Also many furniture shops with european and asian style furnitures you can find in Cha-Am.
The population of Cha-Am is between 45.000 and 50.000 inhabitants. It has good infrastructure, doctors, a hospital, many pharmacies and a railway station, from where you can travel by train to Bangkok or to the south of Thailand.
The nightlife of Cha-Am is quiet compared to the neighbour city of Hua Hin. In the low season, many bars and massage saloons are closed . Prostitution is not to find on the streets of Cha-Am, so you can go also with your children in every street. Some of the Thai ladies of the massage saloons or the bars offers sometimes special services, but you will not find public prostitution.In one street, in the Soi Bus Station, are many bars, the most of them are run by foreigners of all nations. Here you will not find the traditonal Thai bars, but you also can have a very nice evening!
