Cha-Am Restaurants
With Rating

There are countless restaurants, soup kitchens, traveling snack shops and food stalls in Cha-Am. Generally you might say that pretty much all of them are good to very good.
But we noticed that the Thais cooks put more and more with sugar in a lot of dishes. Also flavor enhancers such as glutamate you can find many times.
Here we show you a selection of restaurants that we tested, that are currently known and is perhaps an indication for you to visit some of them, but also the best cuisine can change their kitchen staff in a day, which affects heavily on the quality of the food.
Furthermore, our opinion is subjective and what does not taste good for us, it maybe could be wounderful for you.

Our Rating:

Our Rating
Description:

Moo Kata Narathip Road, opposite the Chill-Chill, about half way of the road Real good Restaurant In our opinion the best Moo Kata Restaurant in Cha-Am. Tables and chairs look old and shabby, but the quality of meat and fish, the vegetables and the soup are top notch!
SeaZabb
Thai Food
Khlong Thian Road, on the way to Cha-Am hospital Very good Restaurant The SeaZabb is the exact opposite of the Aroy Restaurant: After the opening in 2012 it was not recommendable. Some 40 minutes waiting time, the food from the table partner was served after 10 minutes, the other food arrived after 40 minutes waiting time.
Meanwhile, service and quality of food changed to 100% and the SeaZabb is a tip for traditional Thai cuisine.
The staff is very attentive and polite, there is a live band playing every night soft Thai music, and the food is delicious! Especially sea food and the Chicken Massaman we can recommend here!
As a tip: At the left side of the restaurant is the kitchen. Take a look through the huge windows and be amazed by the clean kitchen and the contless friendly kitchen staff!

Mums Bistro
Thai / European Food
Sri Sakhun Thai Road Real good Restaurant A classical tourist restaurant, which is frequented very strong. You find traditional Thai food, but not as sharp as usual.
Very polite staff, but sometimes a little overwhelmed.
The quality of food is good and it can be used fresh, but not the highest quality ingredients. Cheap prices, a meal is around $ 3 each person.

Blue Chair
Thai Food
Sri Sakhun Thai Road, left of Mums Bistro Real good Restaurant The restaurant is small and has no name. We call it "Blue Chair", because it is equipped with blue plastic chairs and tables.
Great Thai food, the lady owner worked for many years in a good Thai restaurant. You can watch her cooking and take a look in her kitchen and on the wok. Only fresh and crunchy ingredients. Especially the vegetables are prepared absolutely amazing.
Insider tip: It is one of the best and best traditional Thai restaurants in Cha-Am! Also the prices are very low, starting from less then $ 2.
Disadvantage: The plastic tables and chairs look a bit shabby. Do not be deceived by the exterior!

Aroy Restaurant
Thai / European Food
Last street before the beach in the Narathip Road, turn right to direction Soi Bus Station Not recommendable restaurant

The Aroy was until a few years ago a secret tip! The owner of the restaurant decorated it lovely with antique clocks for years. There were large portions, attentive and funny staff, the quality was crisp and stunning.
Unfortunately the Aroy has become a tourist magnet. It barely walk Thais to eat there. The portions have become smaller, the quality of food is not the best, sometimes you have long waiting times. The food is not served complete, often you wait 10 minutes after you get your rice, before the main meal comes.
Meanwhile constantly changing personnel. Sometimes the Service is annoyed, clicks nervously the ballpen and snorts loudly if you not order right away. We felt a bit of pressure to act. Once we ordered a Cordon Bleue, which was sizzling in a deep fryer where fish was previously prepared. Consequently, the Cordon Bleue had a strong fishy taste.

Raya Resort
International Cuisine
Beach Road, Raya Resort Very good Restaurant In our opinion the best international cuisine and the best service you'll find in Cha-Am.
All ingredients are fresh, there is a huge selection of Thai and international dishes and a large selection of fine wines. Gentle live music nightly. The romantic restaurant is located in a small garden with a fish pond. The staff is very attentive, you will even get the chair pushed under your butt, when you like to sit.
Simply and solely the size of the lobster was a little bit disappointing, but the quality of the beef and sea food is outstanding.
However, the Raya restaurant is also the most expensive restaurant in Cha-am, but if you are a lover of Thai cuisine and exclusive beautifully decorated plates, then you will feel very comfortable there!

Jasmin
Thai / European Food
Opposite the Soi Bus Station, western end Not really recommendable restaurant Very nicely furnished, but not very frequented restaurant with polite and helpful staff.
The plates are beautifully decorated and the waiting time for the food is normally not outstanding long.
However, we had a total of four dishes at the restaurant and four times disappointments.
On a Saturday evening, where actually all dishes should be available, it was 10 minutes after ordering a steak that the staff says that no beef is available. The guest changed to chicken. After another 20 minutes waiting he get informed that no chicken was available. Meanwhile, the dishes were served for the other guests.
Because of not everybody likes to eat pork, this evening was a vegetarian eveing for the guest.
Fish which has been ordered with black pepper (according to menu) was delivered with green pepper.
The pork was tough and the guests had plenty times to chew.
Perhaps the quality of the cuisine will change soon, because the ambiance is beautiful. But what is nice equipment if the food quality does not match?

Bella Pizza Nong Chaeng Road, near the Forest Park Not recommendable restaurant Bella Pizza was previously located in Soi Bus Station, now it moved to the Nong Chaeng Road, the road leading to the Forest Park. This restaurant has a nice atmosphere with beautiful tables, plenty of space and friendly service.
But at dinner we had three meals, and three problems with the food.
First we ordered a pizza, which was soggy, not crispy. It was also much too much cheese on it, which was apparently also the cheapest quality.
The spaghetti carbonara was served up with a sauce with a lot of sugar in, which had totally spoiled the sauce.
The spaghetti with mussels were just dripping full of oil.
Three meals and three times disappointment.
When the Bella Pizza was located in Soi Bus Station, it was the best pizza in Cha-Am. From today's perspective and from our culinary, the restaurant is not recommendable any longer!

SPECIALS:
Deutsche Bratwurst
Wednesday Night Market
Every Wednesday on the Night Market, a stall with German Bratwurst, at the left site, where the bars are located Very good Restaurant Here you will definitely get the best bratwurst in radius of at least 100 kilometers!
The sausage was made by a European butcher in Thailand after German recipes, and is compared to all the other sausages, you can get in Thailand, a poem!
At the stall you also can get fish sandwiches, type pickled herring, which are absolutely delicious!
A MUST HAVE on every visit of the night market!
